My name’s Lizzie, and I live in York, UK. In Britain we’ve been enjoying cuisine from around the world (or at least nicking the bits we like) for over 100 years. My own city of York has been a melting pot since the time of the ancient Romans. Both British and Roman empires may be long gone, but we still love a good curry and stir fry.
Who has the time to get out a recipe book as often as we’d like though? Do you look at curry recipes and dismiss them as too complex, or full of ingredients they don’t have in the supermarket? My British recipes are quick and easy enough for weeknights and action-packed weekends, but incorporate flavours from around the world. Liven up your family’s dinner time or impress that special someone, and all without breaking into a sweat.
I love eating good food – but I refuse to settle for dull food when I’m short of time or energy. As a busy working mum that’s most of the time! Once you know the secrets to amazing flavour you will never eat a boring meal again.
The menus at the top should help you to navigate. You’ll find everything from easy dinners that capture the taste of a nation like Spanish Potato Omelette to a foolproof meatball recipe with a full on flavour. You will find no (or very few) pre bought sauces and mixes – you create the flavour – but plenty of easy dinners using what you are likely to buy already – from African Sweet Potato and Peanut Soup to spiced tomato poached eggs.
When not cooking, I enjoy gardening, getting out to see wildlife, and history – the above photo was taken at St Malo in France.
